Skip the captive turtles and head for the beach lagoon next to it

Personally I don't like seeing animals in captivity and unfortunately this place is exactly that. It's sad that so many places feel the need to do this to animals just to please tourists :-( There is a large lagoon with big turtles which is full of tourists and you are able to feed them pieces of paw paw ( but watch out if you do go in as I saw a few snapping at fingers too ) The smaller baby turtles are kept in a tiny tank and handled constantly and the pigs are in a tiny cage, not something I wanted to see at all. Lunch is included in the entry price for a few dollars extra but it was just barbecued meat and a bit of sad looking salad and fruit slices. My hubby, daughter and myself are vegetarians so it really wasn't for us. If you walk past the turtle lagoon you'll discover a little lagoon that runs out to the sea and it was my favourite spot for a swim with crystal clear water. Not sure if you can somehow walk to it without visiting the poor turtles but it would be worth a try.

    turtles trapped in a pond
we came up there and a little boy was holding on to the turtle to swim with it, horrible and the parents told him to hold on for a picture. they have 3 big turtles in the pond. mostly a tourist attraction for the tourist and cruise shipt coming there. entry is expensive for what you see there.

    Disappointing
My family and I were so looking forward to seeing a turtle conservation area and swim with these magnificent creatures, but it was a disappointing experience. We paid 1500 vatu each to get in, so over $100 for our family to be given a tour where the tour guide pointed and said 'turtles' and couldn't, or didn't want to, answer our questions. The small turtles seemed to be in an inadequate enclosure with a small amount of water and no lovely fresh fauna. There was a bizarre enclosure with everything from bats to chickens in it - looks like they could be breeding the next virus in there, not good. We were unable to swim, nor see, the large turtles so we essentially paid $100 to be shown 'turtles' and then wandered around saying 'is that it?'. I would pay a lot of money to know that animals are being well looked after and felt the money was going to a good cause, but this wasn't the case here at all. Please lift your game Crystal Blue Lagoon.
