Luangwa River - Lives of Cape Buffaloes, Hippos, Elephants & Crocs
One of the tributaries of Zambezi River, home to 1000 of pool of Hippos, Crocs and considerable elephants community, it passes through the pristine South Luangwa national park and joins with Sheri river in Malawi to meet Zambezi and down to Indian Ocean. Luangwa Bridge is treat to watch. Good time to see after floods, July - November. The river will be in its peak flow during January - April. Tiger Fish fishing is an adventure. But you should drop the fish back into the water as this is against the wild life act.

    Walking Safari in Luangwa valley
My most exotic vacation I think it must have been. Zambia has not utilised it potential in tourism. It was nothing organised. I few friends and I decided we wanted to go on a walking safari, and som people told us about Luangwa valley. It was at the end of the dry season - a smart time to choose than the animals folks down to the river to drink, Because of the dryness of the land. We saw beards of animals the big five and many others. Morning safaris, night safaris. The camp, was very basic due to the fact that you are not allowed to build anything permanent in this national park. They had to move camp every 3 or maybe 5 years. You were given a traditional round hut made of straw sleeping on these military collapseable beds. Food very good simple but tasteful, the Rangers fantastic knowledge and very nice. I strongly recommend Luangwa valley.
