Aggabodhi_II was King of Anuradhapura in the 7th century, He succeeded his uncle Aggabodhi_I as King_of_Anuradhapura and was succeeded by his brother Sangha_Tissa_II. A statue of King Agbo II erected at the Kantale Lake / Kantale dam ,as he was responsible for re-construction of the lake

    The Kantale Tank!
    Passing through Kantale (had to let go of the urge to buy “Kantale Mee Kiri” due to the long journey ahead) This enormous irrigation tank was built by King Aggabodhi ll of Anuradhapura according to the Mahawansa scripture (608 - 618) The reservoir is spread across 216 sq km and can hold up to 135 million cubic meters.

    Rest a bit on lake bund on your wat to Trincomalee.
    A nice panaromic view and great place to get down from your vehicles and rest a bit with the cool breeze of the lake. The other side of the lake also a nice view too.
