A new Munch Museum was excellent!

Edvard Munch bequeathed a large portion of his work to the city before his death in 1940, and this museum is the result. It contains books, paintings, drawings, scuptures and letters. The Munch Museums have changing exhibitions. Please see website for updated exhibition program.

A new Munch Museum was excellent!
We went to Oslo in order to visit a new Munch Museum! It was perfect! So many beautiful paintings there and a new Munch Museum bilding is so beautiful. Be aware that we need to book a slot in advance... We saw that a few people could not come in to Museum since they did not book/reserve a time slot in advance...

Great art and building let down by rude staff
I visited the Munch museum twice on my Oslo visit. From an art perspective it was full of gems and the Munch collection was outstanding-well worth a couple of visits to take it all in. One entrance ticket was valid for the full day with no time limit and allowed access to all the exhibitions on all the floors, which was excellent value and the reason I give it 3 stars. The buidling itself was interesting to me and the views from different floors across Oslo the higher up you go are fantastic. I would definately have a drink at the Skybar at the top.... Cons I don't like to write negative comments, but found staff on both occassions rude and unhelpful which let the place down. Certain bags need to go in lockers (which is fine) but then no help was given to people regarding the lockers. Then security appeared to abuse their power by randomly allowing some people up the stairs whilst turning others away back to the lockers for no reason other than they could. Horrible to witness. Dont bother to ask staff for any information regarding the art work, they'll just shrug at you.
