    Come prepared with info
A very clean and well maintained site with a map, but no guide. Inform yourself ahead of time. It would be helpful to go to Ulegh Beg’s observatory in Samarkand to get a sense from the interpretive displays there what this site and the equipment would have looked like. Still, inspiring to be at the place where Copernicus got the models that he used to prove the earth moves around the sun, and that inspired both Ulegh Beg and the maharajah of Jaipur. Good view of the extinct volcano from the hill. Mysterious caves on the hillside have a strong resemblance to the Buddhist cave monastery in Samangan in Afghanistan. Anything is possible, as Hülagü was still a pagan when he died, so possibly there were some Buddhists here too.

The place which could be better...
We took a long way to get there and see an ancient place which one time in far past was a great spot in the science, but unfortunately we were alone! No one was there, no guide, or even a guard!
