Great exposition about Pompeii: Perish in Beauty
Currently the fabulous Drentsch Museum has a gripping exposition about how Pompeii and Herculaneaum perished due to the volcano eruption. Very nice artefacts on loan from Italian museums. The exhibition is aptly named “Sterven in Schoonheid” (something like “Perish in Beauty”. Also worthwhile is their simultaneous Neo Rauch exhibition (the German painter also known from the art museum in Zwolle).

Most visited attraction in Assen ??, lovely museum
Permanent collection of figurative art with particular attention to Realism from northern Europe and representatives of the fourth generation of Dutch abstract figurative artists. Not that easily accessible up north Netherlands in Assen ?? but if you get the chance to visit, I highly recommend a visit. The arts works of Roling, van Gogh or Sluijters on display are impressive especially if you are a realism fan.

Special exhibition China’s Golden Age, Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD)
The Drents Museum recently reopened after a large renovation and extension. We went especially to the Drents Museum in Assen to visit the large opening exhibition China’s Golden Age, Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD). We really were astonished by the beauty and the splendor of the objects exhibited. All objects are from the collections of several museums in Xi’an and Famen. To see all these unique original artifacts in a beautiful presentation, please hurry! This exhibition only runs till April 15, 2012. You really will be sorry to have missed this exhibition! Afterwards this exhibition will move to Belgium.
