    Sadly Under Construction
Though clearly work is often needed to maintain these great pieces of architecture, the Jefferson Memorial is currently under construction. Covered in scaffolding on multiple areas but you can see the dome more now. Remains open, still can access Jefferson’s statue. Tip: Parking is very tight over here so take a tour bus or the DC Circulator.

Very much worth visiting but be advised that it is being renovated
I visited the Jefferson Memorial in July 2021 before driving to check in to my hotel. It was a hot and humid day and I am not sure I would have walked here from the National Mall. I parked my car in Parking Area A and I had to pay $3.45 (the machine accepted credit cards). It was about a 10-minute walk to the Jefferson Memorial. There is a Roof Replacement and Dome Cleaning project underway so there are some scaffolds and other equipment which get in the way of getting a good photo from the outside. I climbed the steps to see the Thomas Jefferson statue and to read the words of the Declaration of Independence among other words on the walls. The small book and souvenir shop is open and you can get National Park Service brochures on the Jefferson Memorial nearby. From the statue looking out, you have a nice view of the Tidal Basin and the Washington Monument. It was worth visiting but I recommend going in the morning or very late afternoon when it is not so hot and humid.
