You can Google Hillwood for the details on Marjorie Posts unique and wonderful home. Essentially she was a very rich hoarder of Russian and French items and art and Hillwood is the museum she left to the public. Do the informative docent tour for sure. Reservations strongly advised to eat in the cafe. The special exhibition on Dior was more interesting than I thought and the greenhouse orchids are spectacular. I am told the various gardens are beautiful when in bloom.

    Must see for art lovers
Second visit to Hillwood and it was wonderful. We went the first day that they reopened after closing in January so there were not a lot of people. We had one of our best docents ever, Vee, Who was amazing and very knowledgeable. She really made her visit. We visited years ago and use the self guided audio tour but really got a lot more out of it taking a tour with a docent. We’ve traveled all over the world but this definitely has one of the best art collections we’ve ever seen in a private home including lots of Russian art, Two Faberge eggs, A writing desk which may have belonged to Marie Antoinette, and many paintings. They also have a little café which has very good sandwiches. I really regret is that it was very cold so we weren’t able to enjoy the gardens as much as we would if we went in the spring when everything is in bloom.
