Must Go

I love going here during the late winter and early spring. Since this place is a seasonal breakfast/lunch place make sure to look out for when it opens on its website. http://www.williamsfarmsugarhouse.com/ They have the best pancakes and waffles you could ever ask for. Always get the maple cream! They also sell maple candy and beautiful metal leaves that could be made into christmas ornaments.

best maple syrup experience in Massachusetts
If the bright white steamcoming out of Williams' Sugarhouse chimney doesn't lure you in, the intense maple aroma once you enter the sugarhouse's restaurant surely will. Speaking from experience, everything on their menu is excellent...make sure not to miss having a Belgian waffle and above all, give the "sugar on snow" with pickles a try...it is an unbelievably tasty combination. My whole family will be coming back in 2012, as we have for many years. The only warning: Williams is so popular, you may have to wait a bit for a table, but it's worth it!

A sweet stop in western Mass
We took an adventure with our brother/sister in-laws our to western Mass and stopped at Williams Farms for brunch. The people were all incredibly nice and even gave us a quick tour/view into the maple sugar works, which were very cool. They were very kind to answer questions. Love the tradition of making sugar from maple sap. We all ordered different things, I got a French toast and a whole wheat blueberry pancake. My wife got regular pancakes. Our in-laws got regular blueberry pancakes. We were served very quickly after placing our orders. It’s sort of family style, place your order at GE counter and get your beverages and utensils. We luckily got a great seat, and the good came shortly. Portions were very generous, as we were all very satisfied. The maple syrup was outstanding, rich dark color, and plenty sweet. We decided to try a specialty there called sugar on snow. They bring you some special maple syrup that’s been cooked to exactly the right temperature so it still pours. With the syrup they brought a bowl of shaved ice. One of the family showed us how to enjoy it. You pour just a little bit over top the ice and it hardens to like taffy consistency. Then you girl a little bit off and enjoy! It’s super sweet so you only want to pour it in small spots. They also bring you a small cup of deliciously tart dill pickles to take the edge off the sweetness. All in all, it’s a great place for breakfast or early brunch, and well worth the trip. It’s a short hop off I-91 and it’s right on Route 5 in Deerfield, MA. They only run during the late-winter early-spring during sugar season, so check the website for hours. I’d definitely stop again when next we’re out western Massachusetts again.
