    Lots to do
This village is part historic, part residential. It is a mile from one side to the other. There are picnic areas and restrooms. You should stop at the visitor's center (parking behind) to get your map and tickets. We called ahead because the website gave different days and hours. Be sure to check by calling. We didn't arrive until the afternoon, so we didn't get to see all. We'd recommend going a bit earlier in the day to see more. We visited the silver smith shop, the history room, the museum and did the guided tour of the Wells Thorn House with the time we had. This was the first silver smith's we've seen. The shop itself has lots of equipment and there is an interpreter inside to tell you about the shop. A second room houses the silver collection. Each piece is documented in binders with lots of information. There is a piece by Paul Revere. The history room is a wonderful space for kids. There are dress up clothes, a miniature house, a mock school room, a tea spot, a cooking area, a reading area, a military tent, and a science room where there is a silk worm exhibit. When we went, families could make beeswax candles. The museum has an extensive collection. In the upstairs storage, each piece is numbered and you can use the computers to get more information on any piece. There are small clipboards with paper and pencils to write the numbers you wish to look up. The Wells-Thorn House is a guided tour. The guide takes you through the rooms and through time.

    Stroll through a bygone era
Most of the houses weren't open when we were here, due to COVID, so we just walked around. You can get a feel for the history on this beautiful street. The museum shop was open and carried lots of different merchandise, including books about the area.
