Centrally located, excellent playground, sports fields, walking path

You can't miss Wilson-Morgan Park located off the Beltline in Decatur. The big wooden play castle that kids and adults can roam through playing hide and seek, the large sand-covered play area with swings and slides and the sports fields are hard to miss. Feel like a long walk? Try out the walking path around the lake and the entire complex. It's quite safe and you'll enjoy the exercise.

    Nice walking trail
We walk here a lot with our dog and it’s got a great paved sidewalk all the way around the park and pond area. It’s about a 2 mile commitment so once you get started, you’ll have to finish to get back to your car/initial starting point. The ball fields seem well maintained and it has a nice, big playground for kiddos. My only disappointment with the park is the recent dog park addition - it took over a year to build (all you really need is some land and a fence) and come to find out it’s only for dogs 25lbs and smaller. Pretty frustrating to be anticipating a dog park FINALLY in Decatur for our golden retriever and not even be able to use it.

    Great Kids Kingdom
The playground at Wilson Morgan is a go-to for my young children. If we're in town, that's where they want to go play. The equipment is great - lots of climbing opportunities, swinging, and 'ninja course' equipment. They even have a designated area for the youngest of children. I also like that I am able to get into all of the little nook and crannies that the kids can in case they find themselves lost or confused about where they are. That's also why I didn't get it 5 stars. I do have a couple of security concerns about this park. First, there are lots of areas for parents/caregivers to sit while the children play, but unfortunately, there are multiple routes in/out of the play area, which makes sitting less of a reality. This makes it a constant mindgame for parents of 'where's my kid?!'. If the area were fenced in completely with one entry/exit area, parents could relax a *little* bit while their children play. Because the back side of the playground is completely open, children could be easily abducted or run off if parents aren't bringing their 'A-game' to the playground. I realize that the bathrooms are located at the old park and there is a sidewalk connecting the two; however, it's definitely not the safest option. So, if you're taking your children to this park, make sure to keep them in your sight at all times - even if that means you have to walk a million laps around it - stay with them. If you have multiple children, have them to stick together so that you don't have to be stressed out about where they each are. I've decided that the benches that they've placed in there are for decoration - not actual use.
