Interesting Piece of History

Learning the History of the Bank and Decatur. The gentleman also ran the Rail depot in the afternoon. He gave us interesting pieces of history including the fact that Northern Alabama did not vote to secede the union. Only three structures remained intact and that the trail of tear processions came along this part of the street to the train depot. Also reason for closing the bank and other tidbits.

    Love the History!
A Civil War Building exhibiting wonderful architecture. I love the history attached to this building and it sits in a wonderful location with a park and fountain. Take a tour.

    Outstanding Architecture and History!
This is one of the few structures that made it through the Civil War. It was used as a Union hospital where the safe became an operating room and became a prime example of Jeffersonian architecture. There is even a home upstairs.
