James Millikin Homestead, Illinois, United States
4.5 (13 reviews) Spent Ranking #6 in Decatur Points of Interest & Landmarks
Incredibly preserved piece of History
This was by far my favorite tour of all the mansions in Decatur. The Tour Guide had all kinds of interesting stories about the Millikins and the mansion through the years. The Homestead is rich with art and so many original furniture pieces that the family owned. Everything is in amazing condition since no one else has lived there except the Millikins. They host many open houses and other events that I will definitely be attending!

If you are in Decatur, a must-see site where Milliken came in and built a University. A lot of history about the area can be gotten just by coming and visiting. This was part of a Rolls-Royce Owners Club Spring tour that really gave some good insights into how Milliken University was founded. Some great architectural work can be seen.
