INSECT REPELLENT HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Roam from pasture and planted fields through a small woodland before emerging at the edge of a serene salt marsh near the head of the tidal Little River.

    Mother and Sun Adventure
Back in October 2015 my sun and I went to ur farm we was looking for lamas because he thought the beautiful alpaca we saw while eating ice cream one summer were lamas. We drove around on this day years after our encounter and invite to visit anytime with the two alpaca at the milk jug ice cream barn (as we call it),for hours looking for your farm. The neighbors were so kind helping us find your farm. Eventually we realized they are alpaca and not lamas. Still excited, we went. As we drove up we saw people with water bottles and smilies. One group visiting from out of state took the time to share with us information about the hidden beauty behind all the trees. I was going through a rough time in my life and my sun was dealing with much too. We never dreamed we would find the hidden beauty we found when we headed out on this adventure. It changed me in many ways. I faced my fears and embraced strength I did not know I had. It brought my sun and I closer. He insisted i crosss that suspension bridge as I shook in fear of heights. I was about to turn around as it started shaking and the look on my suns face reached me deeply. I always give up to fear. I felt defeated when he shouted back to me " its ok mom turn around we can go home" I stood in the middle of that bridge high upon nothing but a man made bridge with death below me and started singing loud as I took each step closer to my sun. He was so proud to see me make it. I sat shaking like a leaf wondering ~how the hell did you get yourself here miles above the earth sitting on a landing that was creaking and swaying...? Then it hit me. You have to go back across that thing. God help me I wish I had wings. Then he asked me if I was ready for the next one? When I saw that next bridge i did all but die. " Are you freaking kidding me..." i protested, rousing fear took me over. My sun shouted " lets go your doing this..." I did it. I really did it. Not realizing what was ahead of me and this old body. We hiked for hours. I'm 47 yrs old with major disability and and over 200.lbs But I kept up with my crazy adventurous sun who took me on the hike of my life. We ended up taking a wrong turn into the hunter trail and Lord knows i heard shots. I kept asking if he heard gun shots. Man im telling you it was the adventure of my life. When he noticed we were on the hunting trail he just laughed at my face. Yes going to kill him. But we found some of the most amazing spots. I was moved beyond comprehension. We took pictures until our phones died. Yes in the middle of nowhere and our phones died. No food, no water and I'm a diabetic. But somehow it was not an issue. The wet lands and birds touched our native heritage and my ancestors smiled down on us. We felt so calm and at peace. My tears of life poured in my heart and I realized that I just did what I never could have done when I was almost 400.lbs over weight lost in life with only death as my fear. 200.lbs lighter sitting on top of the world and walking through my natives land was a turning point for me and my sun saw his mom face her own fears and accomplish the hike of a life time. I thank you for having this and will always remember this day. The alpaca were awesome. We took pictures and video of them and we ended up going back in November. It was raining and it did not stop us. On the way leaving in November we saw a flock of wild turkeys running across the field. Then all of a sudden thousands of loud birds came from the sky and landed on this huge tree. The sound was almost deafening. In the blink of an eye they all vanished out the tree and off they flew. My heart sank. I knew a storm was on its way. I will never forget our two visits to this extraordinary and beautiful land. Thank you all. Faith Burkley.

Great spot for all. A treasure in Dartmouth.
A visit here is sure to please. I have visited several times and brought different guests each time. Everyone has enjoyed our hike out through the farm, past the old rock walls, to the newly built board walks over the salt marshes, to reach the fun, bouncy suspension bridges. It's a 1 mile hike to reach the bridges. If you continue over the bridges you find some old stone foundations which are very cool. It's one way back to the parking lot, not a loop. It's not a strenuous hike, but a very pleasant one. On our last visit we had three generations, ranging from 4 years to 79 years, and all faired well. Lots of people bring dogs- requested to be kept leashed at all times. There are no bathrooms here. It would be great if a composting toilet could be added somewhere out on the trail.
