Lots of history with limited curation
I paid TZS 12'000 for admission (cash and card accepted) and enjoyed over an hour browsing the panels, exhibits, artwork, and gardens. It's enjoyable, but with few visitors and a weather- and age-worn facility, the experience was a little odd. The curation is wanting, despite providing fascinating insight into Tanzanian history. I especially was interested to learn about the slave trade on Zanzibar under Omani rule and, later, German rule.

History of Tanzania
History of Tanzania start here. National Museum of Tanzania is hard to cover in an hour or two, but for short visit, had to skip many things. A history of tied relationship between Tanzania and USA since 60s. Skull of different animals mainly the big 5, old currencies and coins, rulers of Tanzania and Zanzibar, wallpapers represent the wildlife of the region and many more. Amazing visit, big quantity of new information. Thank you our great tour guide Mona.
