Truly breathtaking

Wonderful views from all around the lake. Lovely walks. Stunning scenery. Travel on the boats was great value for money and a day pass meant you could got to all 6 jetty's to explore around the lake.

    Loved it
My husband and I came here around lunch on a Monday. We paid parking for 2 hours (£3.50). There was a queue to eat in the cafe (it wasn’t overlooking the lake), so we used the food we already had with us in the car and sat on the field overlooking the lake. We then rented a rowing boat for 30mins (£10 for 30 mins or £15 for one hour), and this was the highlight for me. Very relaxing and enjoyable. Next time I come, I will rent the rowing boat for 1 hour so we have more time to explore on lake and not be as conscious of time. Would also pick up a nice lunch from sandwich shop etc and eat on the grass hill overlooking the lake.

Lovely lakeside walk, can be done in whole or part (using the bus)
A relatively easy walk around a mostly level terrain, with occasional lovely views across the lake to the peaks beyond. In total around 9 miles, but for those with limited time or energy the walk can be reduced by use of the bus back to Keswick. We walked anti-clockwise from Keswick with a stop for coffee and scone at the lovely Lingholm Garden tea rooms (separate review). We had planned to lunch at Lodore Falls hotel, on the recommendation of our guest house proprietor, but unfortunately when we were there it was residents or pre-booked guests only. We therefore took advantage of the convenient bus stop opposite the hotel and returned via bus for lunch in Keswick.
