The Donaghadee Rocks on the Harbour

Loving the Donaghadee Rocks at the Harbourside along the pier towards the Donaghadee Lighthouse. So many rocks and some talented artists who have painted them, it looks like everyone in the village have played there part and probably alot of tourists visiting the area and there's even a Facebook Page dedicated to it. I'll have to paint some myself for the next time I visit the area.

    A relaxed visit
A stroll along the cobbled sea walk and out to the lighthouse gives you a good view of this small, friendly coastal town. It's peaceful, pleasant and uncluttered. While there isn't a huge amount to do here, the sea walk is a highlight - fresh air, plenty to look at with the old remnants of a once-vibrant fishing industry and the lighthouse itself standing watch. It can get a bit windswept when the breeze picks up.

    Beautiful views
Whatever the weather no visit to this pretty, charming town is complete without a walk along the harbour to enjoy the lovely views and the sea in all its moods from tranquil to stormy. Enjoyable without a doubt on a sunny day under a blue sky but if you venture out at dusk there is more to see in addition to the boats in the harbour. On a recent walk, when we were by the lighthouse, we saw two bats flying around, darting here and there as they had their supper. We had a great opportunity for a photograph as the reflections of the lights and pastel colours of the buildings on the front were so picturesque. The tide was low and as we walked towards the town we saw a heron hunting in the shallow waters, which was an unexpected surprise.
