Get your wet suite ready

Bude Sea Pool is a part-natural, partially man-made tidal swimming pool on the beach at this popular seaside town in North Cornwall. It was built in the 1930s under the cliffs of Summerleaze Beach to provide safe bathing in sea water, but away from the dangerous Atlantic currents in the bay. Measuring around 91m by 45m, it is topped up at high tide by the Atlantic Ocean. Since 2012 it has been managed by the Friends of Bude Sea Pool, a not-for-profit charity that took over the facility when public funding was withdrawn. The spacious Pool provides plenty of room for paddling or serious swimming: inflatables, snorkels, surfboards and even scuba divers are welcome - just be considerate of other users, please. Bude Sea Pool is open throughout the year and is FREE for all to enjoy. Children must be accompanied at Bude Sea Pool at all times. Swimming in the Pool is FREE but there are donation boxes at the Pool if you enjoy your splash and want to help us maintain this wonderful facility.

    Fantastic :-)
I visited Bude Sea Pool on a gloriously sunny day on my holiday last week. I'm not an overly emotional sort, but after months of being mostly indoors it was quite moving. The excited laughter, children squealing, the buzz of happy chatter and the simple joy of splashing around in open water is hard to beat. You can just walk straight in, it wasn't overly crowded when I visited and its free (Although I'm such a fan I bought a mug). Thanks to all the Friends of the Pool who make it what it is, a fantastic facility.

    Freezing ? but fantastic!
This was a must on our list when we visited Bude. We were there during a heatwave so a dip in the pool was just perfect. It was so well set up and looked super inviting. It was very cold, but so glorious. I enjoyed swimming a few laps before my toes got to chilly. If you can, make sure you visit the shop to support the pool. It is no longer government funded so it relies on donations from the community. It is a fantastic asset in Bude. Just wish it was closer to home so we could go more often.
