Books & Books, Florida, United States

4.5 (170 reviews) Spent Ranking #2 in Coral Gables Speciality & Gift Shops

A Miami institution

This place is a Miami institution. It has thrived due to the owner’s passion for books and authors and commitment to the community. It hosts outstanding, thought-provoking authors on a near-daily basis. Granted, most travelers to South Florida are visiting for the sun and fun and superficial ostentatiousness, but if you possess more than two brain cells and happen to find yourself in Miami, Books and Books is worth a visit. I have always found the bookstore staff to be very helpful and knowledgeable about the store’s selection. The restaurant side can sometimes get a bit overwhelmed. The store hosts local musicians as well as excellent author talks. Sometimes I will buy a book and then go to Macondo, a nearby coffee shop, to read as it is less crowded.

    Great Place in Coral Gables
With a happy and relax atmosphere, you can eat a light meal and listen to music in the evening. Close to the movie Theather, next to the Coral Gables Museum and walking distance to Miracle Mile is the perfect location. We enjoy going with my family and friends.

    What better..books and food!
I wondered about this Cafe, but my kids love it, and have been several times. So today, off we went to dine and explore. The bookstore has a great variety of subjects, a wonderful selection of children's books, and a big book room, which I've never seen before. It was pretty busy. We dined in the Cafe outdoors, but there is a small dining area inside. Several desserts to choose from, including a tall chocolate cake, carrot cake, cheesecake, donuts, etc. We ordered an appetizer, hummus with toasted pita wedges. I'm not a hummus fan, but this hummus was very good! I had a tuna melt with homemade tuna salad, white cheddar, cucumber, sprouts, served with mixed greens. Excellent! The turkey panini was served with brie, fresh pear, watercress, chutney, served with mixed greens. I had a big bite, the pear makes the sandwich! Weird, I know! Last, a grilled cheese with aged cheddar, goat cheese, served with mixed greens. Very good. This in a beautiful old building. Located in beautiful Coral Gables. Near many boutiqes, and a parking ramp across the street. Prices were a bit high, but not much. Service friendly. Only negative was the bathrooms really need an update and reconfiguration!
