Lovely old palyhouse
An old Spanish Style Playhouse(“corral de comedias) in the beautiful city of Alcalá de Henares, 30km away from Madrid. I recommend it here as a theatre, not as a historical building. The program of plays is very interesting and the building is lovely. Maybe the seats could be a bit more comfortable but it’s definitely worth the visit.

Visit to understand Spanish medieval theatre
This was a nice surprise and I highly recommend it. The 'corrala' was a backyard shared be a few neighbours, which was used for theatrical performances. In the 16th century it became a hub for social gathering and entertaiment. The tour, which lasts around 45min, takes you the history of this particular 'corrala', the oldest in Spain. My kids really enjoyed the special effects for a stormy weather used back in the days

Extremely interesting theatre. underground workings of how theatres worked excellant period surroundings. only tour available did not include english unfortunately but understandable to anyone with basic spanish. guide informative and allowed visitors to explore for themselves if required excellat
