Awe inspiring building
This palace is the most filmed building in Spain and it deserves all the attention it gets. The entire plaza is decorated beautifully during the holidays and palace has special lighting all over it. And the cheri on top was the light and sound show on 22nd December which was spectacular.

Great view of city
We went to go to the restaurant and see the views, but they were doing renovation on the bar? Side of the floor and brought it over to the restaurant side which made the restaurant an interior space with literally no view, on top of which it was a small, dingy drab space. Not an attractive proposition. We thought of going to the bar, but they charged 10 euros for 1 drink as a cover. Since my wife doesn’t drink and we wanted a meal with a view, that made no sense. Instead we went up to the sixth floor viewing area, which was excellent. It gave a panoramic view and had information about all the buildings that you were looking at. It seems to be a good place to start your visit to Madrid to give you a quick orientation of what is in the city and where it is. I wish I had seen this the first time we visited instead of the fourth. We also could have gone to the Gaudi exhibition they had running, which sounded very good, but having seen most of Gaudi’s works and seen amy exhibits on him, as well as having bought yet another book about him, we decided to spend on our limited time elsewhere. This turned to be a wise decision as we went to the world class archaeological museum, which I added to the trip originally because we were going for five days here, but my wife wasn’t feeling well for two of them and considered excising from the itinerary altogether. Since it was close to Cibeles, we decided to make a beeline and see what we could the last two hours it was open as it is free on Sundays at that time. Superlative Roman mosaics, a nice Egyptian collection, excellent Greek vases and more are among the gems on display. Every trip has its surprises and this was one of them.
