    Kudos to Purgatory Shuttle Services!
Purgatory Transport services went above and beyond to get us to Hermosa Creek Trail for world class back country mountain biking. They met us in a nice Suburban with a tray rack on it and shuttled us from the Hermosa Speedway gas station, through the Purgatory resort to the back side of the mountain… for $45 each… so we could ride the mostly single track trail back into town. As they dropped us at the trailhead my buddy realized he had left his biking shoes in his truck in Hermosa and his slip-ons were worthless on his pedals! Long story short, our shuttle crew put their heads together and saved the day by securing a pair of loner platform pedals. We made the swap in the parking lot at the resort and hit the trail for spectacular ride! (BTW: trail is 18 miles long, with another 6 mi of downhill on gravel and pavement back to the gas station, for a total of 24miles. Very little technical to it, but be ready to do some climbing at elevations between 7,500-8,000 ft.) Many thanks to Henry, the Transport Director, and Chad, our driver, for exceeding all expectations to help us make our adventure happen!!

It's all about the skiing- we loved it!
Compared to other Colorado ski resorts, Purgatory is a great value for the money. People come here to SKI- that's it- SKI (and snowboard). Absent is all the glitz, glam & fluff many other mountains offer. People are serious about the skiing here- not partying, shopping, going to restaurants, & being seen. Just ski & ride. I found the staff/hosts to be friendly, helpful, & knowledgeable for the most part. I rented equipment and was perfectly satisfied with the process. This mountain offers a good number of well marked green slopes for beginner skiers. However, there were some lifts closed due to maintenance problems. If you are staying in a condo at the base of the mountain, be sure to buy all your groceries in Durango because there are few stores or restaurants. Our group has a wide range of abilities from beginner to expert and everyone had a wonderful time overall so we hope to return again!
