Breathtaking Golf Experience

We played this course because of a recommendation from a fellow golfer on a trip to the Western Slope. We could hardly believe it. This is one of the best courses in Colorado. We can't wait to go back. The course conditions were excellent (early October), and the views were breathtaking. The staff could not have been more accommodating, outgoing or friendly. The quality of the experience far outweighed the cost to play. One of the best bargains, ever!

A hidden gem on the Western Slope
Flat out Devil’s Thumb is a must play for anyone already living there or planning a golf trip to the western slope of Colorado. The course has several elevation changes, a few tee boxes perched high above the fairway and great practice areas prior to play. You’ll need to play Devil’s Thumb at least twice to learn your lines off the tee on 5, 10, 13 and 16. Fairways have generous landings and the greens are receptive yet with just enough slope you need to in the right area of the green. I’ll be telling all our men’s club members that Devil’s Thumb is worth the drive over.

    Like no other golf course
This course sits on a high, barren plateau at the base of the Grand Mesa in Western Colorado. This area is considered "high desert" with low natural rainfall, and this course has almost NO TREES. But the fairways and greens are excellent-beautifully green and well kept, considering the harsh nature of the area. The terrain and lay-out of the course make some of the holes very challenging, but the views from every part of the course are spectacular. The Grand Mesa on one side, West Elk Mountains and Raggeds on another and the San Juan Range in the distance. Makes the golf game secondary to the breathtaking experience of Devil's Thumb. I don't even play golf, but I love riding around this course with my husband! Even though we are locals, I never tire of this unique golf course. And the small clubhouse is lovely and comfortable with a good and tasty food service.
