First Class Operation, but expensive

    The Best there is... period!
Ski magazines often rank each of Aspen's four mountains separately. This is a disservice as all four mountains are really one resort, with one ski pass and connected transportation. My guess is that they rank each mountain separateley because otherwise Aspen would be ranked #1 every year! There is a ski mountain for everyone. Buttermilk is just excellent for beginners and low intermediates although there is limited expert terrain. Snowmass is the place for families offering something for everyone and a large amount of on-slope lodging with a small mall. Aspen highlands and Ajax mountains are for more advanced skiing. The connecting transportaion is excellent with buses running every 15 minutes. Many lodgings such as the Limelight Lodge where we stayed (see separate review) also offer their own vans on an on-demand basis for the various mountains. One of the nice touches is the ability to leave you skis with guest services at the bottom of what ever mountain you are skiing and tell them where you will be the next day -- and your skis will automatically be there waiting for you! This is especially nice with four mountains. We preferred staying in the town of Aspen with it's excellent restaurants and bars but you can also stay at Snowmass for a more family feeling. Technically you could stay at Highlands and Buttermilk but that is very limited. You can drive or fly there. If you fly, you can connect thru Denver, etc. for the best fares, or treat yourself to a direct jet flight right into the Aspen complex - minutes away from any lodging you have chosen. This is a first-class skiing destination, all the way...

    good service
There wasn't much choice but to use this company to buy ski lift tickets and lesson tickets - but they were efficient and friendly. We hired skis at Inclide - a different place to support a different business as Aspen Ski Co still had a few thousand dollars from us for lift tickets and lessons!
