Excellent and unique museum
Museo del Origami in Colonia del Sacramento is the first museum of paperfolding in the Americas and only the second one in the Western Hemisphere. The exhibition features artwork from the most important origami artists from all over the world. As opposed to a tradicional fine arts museum, here there is a crossroads between science and art. Many artists come from fields such as mathematics, astronomy or biology and they use the science of folding in their research and developments. The museum has a history room, contemporary artwork, a library and a gift shop.

Do NOT miss this museum
I was a bit skeptical because I do not know a lot about origami but this incredible small museum was remarkable. They have a several wonderful displays with beautiful pieces showing a range of styles and explaining the history of the artform. They also have English descriptions of the exhibits which were very helpful. The exhibits are informative and very interesting and what can be done with a single piece of paper blew my mind. The creator of the museum was there when we were there and she was so friendly and willing to answer all of our questions...she also speaks very good English which allowed us to learn even more. Do not miss this...a perfect 1 hour experience in Colonia!

The art of folding
Don't miss this amazing museum. It takes you through the full history of origami, with the most fascinating displays. It's so much more complex than one expected, and you'll need more than an hour if you want to read all the information available and watch the videos. Not only the collection itself is amazing; the highly professional display and layout heightens it. I was so enthralled, I forgot to take pictures
