Best museum of the eight

Can buy a ticket for 50 pesos at the Municipal Museum for the eight small museums in town. Need to pay in Uruguayan cash. This house is of Portuguese construction from the first half of the 18th century with a gable roof covered with tiles. The house preserves its original walls made of stone and part of the floor. This house exemplifies the everyday life during the colonial period. The rooms show different objects of daily use such as furniture, ceramics, and utensils of the kitchen. The colorful outside of this home makes a nice photo. Open 11:15-4:30. Closed on Tuesdays.

Attractive old orange building. A household recreated.
Another small museum in Colonia, this one has an entry room with an interesting ceiling , a bedroom and a kitchen. Nice window with views into the garden.

One of 8 museums you can see for a low price
This is an old Portuguese house, with its original stone walls and floor from the early 17th century. It is one of 8 museums you can visit for a small donation to help preserve the local artifacts and history. There is a white house in the main square near the shade trees and lighthouse. For a fee of $50 Uruguayan Dollars or about $1.25 USD you can see eight museums in the area – all within walking distance. The person in the white house didn’t speak any English but she gave us a pamphlet and said 8 in English and she pointed, and we figured that the other 7 museums were outside. This museum is all about what a house would have looked like back in the period.
