Awesome Stop

Eduardo Arenas has been collecting key chains, beverage cans, ashtrays, perfume bottles and pencils for nearly fifty years. This odd museum contains many thousands of these and other trinkets and gifts collected by Arenas and his family. Some farm animals roam out back.

Interesting collections! Food local dishes and tasty!
We went on a day trip from Buenos Aires, by a tour operator. Not necessary to do this! Just go to the Port in BA and get the fast catamaran over to Uruguay. From there get a bus or organised coach out to this spot. Worth going to visit. The owner has the Guiness book of records for the most pencils. He collect a variety of other interesting objects, Key rings, bottles, etc Get the owner and son to go around with you and tell you where and how it all started. It is interesting. We ate there. The food was local and different. I liked that as I like to see what food is eaten in other parts of the world. The shop is good if you take time to look at the produce. I purchased some of the marmalade made on the farm and took it back to Ireland. It was the best marmalade ( Next to the Irish! ) ever tasted. So sorry I did not bring back more. So go and enjoy! It is about a 15 min., journey from Colonia, so it is interesting to see some of the countryside also. There are toilets on site and bikes to use if you wish.

    Day trip to colonia
We took the rapido ferry from buequabus buenos aires to colonia. The ticketing lady told us it was a 1 hr ferry trip giving us 3hrs and then the return trip. Taking delays into account and you need to check in for return trip at least 30min early this doesn't give you enough time ( although all day might be too much). It's a great, relaxed trip to a place where time stands still but the Mosquitos roam wild.
