Buy your food before you get on the boat!

You should absolutely come here if you have the time. Of all the places we visited, my children talk about this place the most. Most other reviews already express the great quantities of cuteness that await you. Let me just add that you should buy your rabbit food from the Family Mart or Visitor Center before you come to the island. You cannot buy food for the rabbits on the island! We visited in December and it was quite cold and windy but still worth it!

Rabbit lovers paradise. Buy your food at the gift shop before you get on the ferry.
This is a wonderful place to go to if you love animals and/or have children with you. There's tons of tame rabbits just roaming around the island and they will approach you to get fed. I came here with my two brothers and we all had a fantastic time on the island although we didn't allow ourselves enough time to explore the entirety of the place before departing. It's not that easy to get to since you have to take a local train + a ferry, so be sure to allow yourself ample time to wait for the next transport. I, myself, came from Hiroshima to visit the island and it still took me four hours to get to Okunoshima. Be sure to pick up your rabbit food at the gift shop before getting on the ferry though because they don't sell any on the island itself. A bag or two per person should be good enough. Also, stop by the Poison Gas Museum to learn about the true history of the island. Unfortunately, it was closed for us during the New Year's holiday season.

Famed rabbit island with countless bunnies
As i have a rabbit myself, I couldn't give up the opportunity to visit rabbit island. Its a relatively small island which i covered on foot in less than half a day, stopping to feed hordes of rabbits along the way. If you look close enough, you will notice some of the rabbits have infections or battle scars. Overall a fun experience for animal lover.
