Great train rides - coastal wonder
Absolutely impressive coast line between Takaoka and Himi. Can be observed from the train or explored on foot by alighting at one of the stations. The journey by train does not last so long adjacent to the sea, but it’s certainly worth a ride. Remember the windows of the train carriage open upwards completely if you want to take photos. Makes for a nice half day excursion. Himi at the end of the train ride is generally uninteresting.

Love the ride to beach!
I made it a one day trip from Kyoto although I gotta spent about 7 hour on the train. The train from Takaoka to Amaharashi station was Ninja-Hatori train, well it's really cute. On the way there, the train went along the beach and that made the ride more interesting. At the beach, it's very hot but the weather was very good. Unlucky that the sky was not so clear so I couldn't see Takayama mountain range from the beach which I saw once in a photo that took me here. The beach was really peaceful and the view was amazing. I just love it. If you have time I'd recommend staying here for a night or two waiting for the sky to be clear so you can see the mountain range rise from the sea.

Beautiful! Can see many jumping fishes!
It was quiet and beautiful Japanese traditional beach! You can see sunshine and many jumping fishes! Also in the night, lighting Firefly squid under the moom that is beautiful! Taste is like a middle of between tokyo and kyoto that was delicious! Not too salty and soy taste. SAKE is very tasty! Oh- must eat a Firefly Squid in there! I Love it!
