    Luckily I didnt miss it
Although the people might mistaken this place with Doi Tung, they are all under the project and patronage of Mae Fah Luang, the art and cultural park is in Chiang Rai City, a bit out of skirts. If you want to have a pure "thainess" experience, this is the place. Secluded location, the trees and careful crafted gardens, takes you to the heart of this unique Thai country that we love. When you start driving inside the park, seems to be "another park", "another view", another lake, but no... there are two beautiful hall-pavilions, large, one with a permanent gallery and changing exhibitions and another one, with lanna kingdom memorabilia. Last but not least, you will find a lot of unique spots to take beautiful photos and very detailed information provided by the carers and well trained staff that will provide you with all information needed. It is a quiet place, slow motion, to enjoy and walk around. Need to spend, if you like art and nature, a couple of hours to visit. Enjoy it and dont miss it!

Impressive collection of teak artefacts and folk art from the Lanna region in a peaceful park setting.
Nestled quietly in suburban Chiang Rai, this large park boasts well kept gardens and lakes and the huge teak Haw Kham (Golden Pavilion) built as a gift from the people to the revered ‘Mae Fah Leung’, her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarinda, the Princess Mother, on her 84th birthday. The extensive collection of regional temple artefacts is a testament to the craftsmanship of countless woodworkers. Among many other buildings on the property, (from its previous use as an educational centre for hills tribes students supported by a scholarship program initiated by the Princess Mother), the Haw Kaew (Exhibition Centre), some 150metres away, is also worth a visit, explaining, with photographs and captions in English and Thai, the many groundbreaking initiatives of the Princess Mother, aimed at improving the lives of the ethnic tribes of the Lanna region. The permanent display of teak artefacts is also impressive. The centre is only a 15min taxi ride from central Chiang Rai, but finding a taxi for the return trip was tricky as it was located in a quiet, residential area. Might be a better option to get the driver to wait- an hour would be plenty to see both the main buildings, walk thru the site, and visit the gift shop! A map is provided on admission (cost: 200baht per adult). A quiet and peaceful place well worth a visit.
