    Highlight of my travels
I went on the elephant sanctuary and safari full day tour and stayed overnight as well and it was the highlight of my round the world trip so far! The staff at Elephant Valley Thailand work so hard to provide the elephants with a new start in life, with the aim for them to be wild elephants again and not subjected to human ideas of entertainment or work. This place is all about the elephants, which means that the closest you get to them is feeding the elephants that have not yet learnt to live without humans. Visitors can not touch the elephants, so there is no riding or washing - touching elephants is unnatural and would not occur in the wild. If you want to go to one of these places to touch or bathe them I would strongly suggest you revise your morals and hopefully see that visiting an elephant sanctuary is not about you, it's really about rehabilitating the magnificent elephants and the money you give the companies you visit goes towards making that possible. Besides, just seeing these animals up close is surely enough to make it the highlight of your trip! Elephant Valley is a bit more expensive than other places, but for this extra bit of money you know you are going somewhere that is very ethical and is using this money to provide the best possible care for these beautiful creatures. I really recommend visiting Elephant Valley Thailand!

    A true Sanctuary
The Elephant Valley Sanctuary in Chiang Rai is doing wonderful things!!! A visit is well worth the trip and you will feel great about where your money for admission is going! We spent a morning learning a vast amount about elephants and specifically the ones now at the sanctuary. It is so refreshing to see this approach to rehabilitation, supporting the elephants in away that they hopefully will be able to survive in the wild again one day on their own without human guidance and contact. Don’t expect to ride or get too close to these elephants, that is not the goal here. The beauty is on watching them roam freely, interact with each other and enjoy their daily schedule. Enjoy!!
