Do you want to see the first space craft project?

It is here... in the small local museum in Kaluga, state capital of my home village. All other have copies/samples, also VOSTOK (Gagarin's craft) is right near by: State Museum of Cosmonauts in Kaluga To my shame I got there years after visiting National Museum of Aeronautic in Washington, DC - so if yo want to see "luxury science" that is most probably not a place But it you are true aeronautic enthusiast this is the case! You might want to visit Moscow Space city as well, and Museum of Strategic Missile Forces in Ukraine (must see IMHO, but logistics is hard, better to rent a car)

The father of Russian space theory.
When in Kaluga there are two things you must see, one is the State Museum of Cosmonauts and the other is the Tsiolkovsky House Museum. Konstantin Tsiolkovsky was the theoretical physicist in the 1920/30's, and his work laid the foundation to all todays space exploration. The house has been preserved as it was when he lived there and its interesting to where such a great man came from. There is a guide to take you around the house if you wish, but only in Russian, however they have English guide notes available for all rooms if needed. A thoroughly good museum and recommended to visit.

    Interesting
Tsiolkovskiy was a Russian provincial dreamer who tried to keep up with the advancements of the science of his time. He became famous for the calculations of rocket engines and dreams of interplanetary space flights. The museum reconstructs the life of Tsiolkovski family
