Buddha's tooth

Sri Dalada Maligawa (Sinhala: ශ්‍රී දළදා මාළිගාව) or The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic is a Buddhist temple in the city of Kandy, Sri Lanka. It is located in the royal palace complex which houses the Relic of the tooth of Buddha. Since ancient times, the relic has played an important role in local politics because it is believed that whoever holds the relic holds the governance of the country. Kandy was the last capital of the Sinhalese kings and is a UNESCO world heritage site partly due to the temple. The temple which houses the Sacred Tooth Relic of the Buddha is one of the holiest shrines in the entire Buddhist world.

Visiting the Temple of the Tooth Relic was a very nice experience
Kandy is a beautiful city , I visited on a Saturday in January and the weather was warm but cloudy with a couple of downpours of rain . Didn’t manage to get much time to go to the shops but spent time at the Temple which was very well organised and although there was a long queue the security guy insisted tourists went to the front of the queue which was a bit embarrassing I would have happily waited my turn ! Inside the temple was very busy but everyone was friendly and the atmosphere was nice . The queue to see the relic was well organised and went down quickly. Altogether a very nice experience .

    Nice place
This is the most holiest Buddhist temple in Sri Lanka and very calm and quiet. But lot of locals and foreigners are always there. I heard this place is really busy and beautiful during the month of August where a festival take place. Definitely a place must visit
