Bahiravokanda Vihara Buddha Statue, Central Province, Sri Lanka

Peaceful place

This was a very good experience. There were no pushy “guides”. The entrance ticket is 250 lkr and no additional fee asked for the shoe keeping (there is a donation box there but no one forced us to put money in it). The top of the statue was opened where you can see the wonderful view of Kandy. This is a very peaceful place.

    Best View point in Kandy
This is the best place to visit in Kandy. Staff and the Chief Incumbent is allowing Visitors to spend their time in a free and hassle-free environment. No one will disturb you. In most of the places in Kandy, you will be interrupted when you take photos or go around. You will encounter many questions in most places in Sri Lanka. But not in here. As a professional blogger, this is the only place that I can recommend anyone to visit without third party interruptions. I should really be thankful to the monks who in charge to maintain this place in such a proper manner.

Great views, could be better maintained
In a prominent position overlooking the city this buddha is visible from practically everywhere. It is therefore no surprise that from the very top of the monument accessed via steps are wonderful views in all directions, principally over the city and the lake. 250 rupees to enter, shoes off as it is a temple, a secure shoe store for a donation or leave them on the steps. Not the cleanest of steps, and the temple grounds themselves could do with some work but the view is worth the effort. A long uphill walk from town, a journey up and down by tuk tuk should be no more than 500 rupees, $2.50,
