Incredible views across Lisbon, wrapped in the history of the walls
Standing proudly on Lisbon's highest hill, this historic castle offers panoramic views of the city all around it. The fort dates back to the Moorish times in the 11th century, and has served as military barracks and royal chambers. Currently, it's a national monument which is home to a museum and archaeological site, though most people visit for the fantastic views and gardens to relax in. There are free and paid guided tours available in the ticket, as well as regular free demos for the camera obscura which provides 360º detailed views of the city in real-time – Tripadvisor

The views are everything!
This is a beautiful and ancient castle that is located high on a hill in the beautiful Alfama neighborhood of Lisbon. Some tour guides had told us not to bother visiting the castle since only the walls remain and the lines to get in are usually very long. I am very glad we did not follow their advice because I would have missed probably the most amazing views of the city. I also found that the castle itself was very interesting. I recommend booking your visit online or, as we did, go very early in the morning (they open at 9 am) to avoid the lines.

Beautiful place for the sunset
The castle is an amazing spot for the sunset. If you plan to go to the castle, I would recommend going around sunset time so that you also get that added bonus. However, that was where the hood ended. The castle said it was open until 2100, and at 2030, they started shooing people out of the castle because they had a concert that night. There was no mention of this at the ticket window, and it cut our time short. Also it is a relatively new castle, so it’s worth a visit but if you are short on time I would recommend skipping it.
