The Royal Regalia - the Crown, Sceptre, Orb, Sword of State and Royal Standard - are symbols of royal power. The Norwegian king's crown was commissioned by King Carl XIV Johan for his coronation in 1818. Since then, it has been used at four coronations and has had a prominent place at two benedictions. The regalia were last time used in 1991 during the benediction of King Harald V and Queen Sonja.

    The Crown Regaia
Included in the combo ticket for the Nidaros cathedral, the exhibition is not very big, but quiet informative regarding history of all Norwegian kings. Regalia can be seen on distance in locked room.

    Brief
The Crown Regalia are housed int the basement - three crowns and assorted add ons, they look nice. Thats it really - if you want to see some crowns and a bit of history then this is for you. It was quiet on Sunday when I went so did get to have a very long look at the assorted finery on show. Upstairs was housing an art exhibition which wasnt to my tastes. Took a "combined" ticket which got me in here, the Archbishops museum and the Cathedral for 230kr. And there are no photos allowed in the actual Crown Regalia section.
