    Great museum and great building
They are not always open so be sure you get a right day and time. It's in the center of city so it's no loss if you have to return or wait. It's a wonderful museum. I love seeing the different masks of Mexico.Staff was friendly and the museum shop was great with many locally made crafts.

Masks, Their Use and Explanatory text
The collection is housed in a beautifully renovated 19th century home. The downstairs galleries are open and pieces are easily accessible for viewing -- some are under glass but mist are simply mounted on the wall for close viewing. There are good text panels in Spanish and in English, though English drops off relatively quickly. Nicely arranged from historical to present day and categorized by type of mask and then also by the dance /ceremony associated with the masks. Several versions of the same dance/ceremony are presented, with appreciation of variation in individual design and rendering. The upstairs has a more loosely arranged set of exhibits that include mannequins in full dress for particular dances/ceremonies and one room dedicated to the traditional musical and percussion instruments. Overall, very nice and not so big that it cannot be enjoyed thoroughly in 1-2 hours.
