Monumento y Museo de la Revolucion, Central Mexico and Gulf Coast, Mexico

4.5 (1.348 reviews) Monday: 12:00 PM - 8:00 PM Spent Ranking #42 in Mexico City Speciality Museums • Monuments & Statues

Panoramic view of the city.

For a very reasonable fee of 90 pesos, one can visit the bowels of the revolution museum and get the elevator ride to the observation deck. The museum is informative, but the real treat is the observation deck. You can even order food from Adelita’s cafe, and they will bring it up to you. I dined on guacamole and chips while I just gazed out at the bustling city on Revolution Day, November 20.

    Impressive
This monument not only is visually impressive but has a fascinating history behind it. Starting underneath the monument the tour takes you via a lift to the top where a further staircase can take you even higher for the best views of the city and even a small coffee shop. It’s also interesting that you get an idea of how a structure that size is put together when you are in the underground area and further when you climb the stairs to the top observation deck and can view the internal aspects of the building.

Nice blend of history and architecture
This starts with a small museum in the basement that you wind through before ascending, with some artifacts and history on the Mexican revolution. Then, you ascend to the viewing deck. The day I visited the elevator was not working, which was a good thing, as I got to climb the steps inside one of the legs. You can really experience the size of the monument and the way it was built. There is both an observation deck and a further climb that winds inside of the dome. On a sunny day, there is a small coffee shop on the observation deck, to sit for a moment and enjoy the area.
