Off the beaten path but a MUST SEE.

WINE TASTINGS BY APPOINTMENT We cultivate healthy grapes so that wine lovers can enjoy healthy and authentic wines, and ecology is the main guiding principle of our boutique wine production. Did you know that wine contains more than a thousand ingredients that are beneficial for the human body? However, because of its only harmful ingredient, the alcohol, it should be enjoyed with moderation. As with any other medicine, the dosage is important. Our wines are genuine, natural, and bear the seal of their vintage year. They are untreated and it is best to get to know them at the source, at our place. You can come for a wine wellness retreat, detoxify and educate yourself on organic wines and wine culture in the embrace of centuries-old sycamore trees, guardians of the old cellar and the ethnographic collection. Each wine has its own special story which we will tell you at the educational wine tastings. Those are also available in foreign languages (English, German, and French).

Very pleasant wine tour in Medimuje wine region outside Varazdin, Croatia, north of Zagreb
We found this 400 year old family owned winery through Lonely Planet. The family is now in their 6th generation of wine making, mostly whites, as this region is mainly known for whites, and recently started producing reds. The winery (and it's cellars) dates back to the 17th century and has seen many historical events. Jasna Lovrec, daughter of the family, hosted our tour and wine tasting. She gave us a personal history of the winery then gave us a tasting of 8 very nice wines. She also served some bread, cheese and ham with the tasting. As is customary with wineries here, she gave us a bottle of wine of our choosing which is included in our tasting fee. It was such a pleasant and fun way to spend a couple hours in the afternoon and Jasna was such an informative and warm host. We recommend a visit to Vino Lovrec if you are in this area!
