Gorgeous in the evenings
This is a pretty but commercial area of the the city. It is not as dead as the old town and is busy with shops, cafes and bars. When we visited it was clean, the atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant and it was lovely to just walk around and enjoy the sights.

Wide avenues & classical buildings
Once you are in Croatia, the Lower Town is a must. Our guide told us the town was laid out in the 1800s. It is astonishing that the avenues are wide with grand classical buildings. We visited museums and the shopping centre here are quite expensive
