This is the "money shot" for Plitvice NP.

STUNNING when looking down on Gavanovac Lake with its serpentine boardwalks & fascinated trekkers tootling around. Words are not going to do justice to the overall impression - this is a visual masterpiece. To note; we walked in misty rain & wore anoraks & didn't need more to stay perfectly dry! Umbrellas ... you've got to be joking on the narrow boardwalks... IT'S SINGLE FILE IF YOU ARE CONSIDERATE.

    Another beauty
    Another beauty, just like the rest of the lakes in Plitvice Jezera NP. Gavanovac Lake is in the Lower Lakes section, so it's most easily (quickly) accessed from Gate 1. Clean, clear, turquoise water through which you can see a fair few fish.

    Be careful on the wooden pathway
    Water so clear the fish are easily seen. Pathway is about 3 people wide with walking in both directions. A few people also have dog on leash even large dog or a baby stroller. No guard rails so be careful.
