Enjoyable visit
This is a museum with displays in the traditional style- wood and glass cases with typed identification cards. That being said, it was not a boring museum. We particularly liked the bird and mammal exhibits. We saw animals we did not know even existed so that was fun. Most organisms on display are native to Colombia and/or South And Central America. There were invertebrates as well as fish, reptiles, and amphibians. There are also displays of fossils and rocks and minerals. Pottery found at regional archeological sites and several stone carvings are also interesting. This would be a good place for a family outing. There is something everyone would be interested in seeing. Free for seniors.

if you are a birder, this is a must!
Years later, I still have images of the amazing birds--a spoonbill--from this museum. It is off the beaten path, so all the better to enjoy. Lots of wonderful local natural history to see.

An old style museum with a bit of many things.
From semi-precious stones to birds, insects to indigenous pottery, monkeys to bears, and pre-Columbian statues to a moose and a polar bear, the museum is still worth a visit, as it is quite well organized in its own fashion. Some items might be wrongly attributed to a specific geographic area. Very few people in there, so you can visit at leisure. Well worth the US$1.25 entry fee...
