I WAS SMILING THE WHOLE TIME
I was on the last tour of the day (4:30pm) and it was so entertaining. Our guide and host was incredibly animated, happy, fun to listen to and really engaged the crowd. The class set up was pristine, all ingredients were visibly fresh. I was a solo traveler and our host encouraged mingling and lightening the mood. Someone dropped their spoon and our host called on his walkie for a replacement and it came right away. Very organized team; I hope Bacardi is giving them just / fair wages because they were all amazing! Learning the history of the company, I now have a new respect for the brand and its process. I have always been a loyal customer but now I can actually represent the brand with some knowledge as well. I purchased a bottle of their Special Reserve Hand Bottled Rum and look forward in sipping it until my next visit. THANK YOU!!

    Interesting
If you like rum and have some time, head over to the Bacardi factory tour. Getting there can be confusing. Here's what we learned as we went. To get there from Old San Juan, you must go to Pier 2 and buy a ferry ticket. Buy your ferry ticket there and back at the same time-it's easier that way. The ferry was cheap. I can't remember the cost but I think it was like 50 cents or a dollar per person. Once the ferry docks, this will be the tricky part. Bacardi is not in walking distance. You need to take a taxi. To get one, exit the building and head to the gray parking garage down the walkway on the right. Inside the parking garage that is down the sidewalk to your right, you will find men waiting to take you buy taxi van to the tour. It is $3 per person for the taxi ride if you wait for there to be at least 4 people riding. It usually doesn't take long for others to arrive. Once you get to Bacardi, they have several tour options ranging in price. We did the basic tour which gave info about how Bacardi started, the types of rum they make and you got one rum drink in a souvenir glass. When you leave the tour, exit into the parking lot and stay to your right. Down the walkway you will see a taxi station. Wait for there to be at least 4 people total, and you'll pay $3 per person again to be brought back to the parking garage. Then take the ferry back.
