Beautiful waterfalls

Beautiful waterfall, a short 5 mins walk from the parking lot. And the additional waterfall 30 mins up was worth the hike, with a return on the road. But getting there to these waterfalls wasn't easy. The road up from Vielha is narrow curvy and busy in August; we had to backup a few times to make room for upcoming vehicles.

    Perfect to go with kids
    My husband and I spent a few days in Vall d'Aran and had planned a few hikes. This one was our first, and it was the easiest of all. You leave the car at a parking, cross a little bridge and walk up five minutes, to reach an esplanade from where you already see the waterfall. You can approach and there are a couple of balconies to take pictures of the waterfall. It's nice, and really easy to do, even if you had kids (it was packed with families, actually). I also took a path that seemed to take you to the top of the waterfall, but instead it took me in and in into the forrest: wrong! I walked back and finally found that the right path goes almost straight up from the balconies area and you get there in 5 minutes more, although it's easy to miss: after reaching the edge of the cliff the path seems to continue uphill, but actually you want to take another path downhill along the cliff that is half hidden by bushes. I finally found it after some walking, but it wasn't that impressive: it's much better to stay at the bottom and take pictures from there. BTW, on the road back we stopped to pick up some wild baby strawberries: don't miss them if you are visiting in the summer!

    Nice waterfalls in remote location
    First, the drive up is not for the fainted hearts among us... Approx 30 min drive on a narrow, winding, not well maintained road with high cliffs will bring you to a parking lot located a few minutes walk from the beautiful waterfall. Then, to view the other waterfall (beautiful by itself) you need to go for a short (~50 min) hike past the cows pasture (watch were you step!), and up a very(!) narrow and steep trail. You need to be in good physical shape for this trail, and heights shouldn't scare you. We strongly recommend NOT hiking back on the same trail (seem way too dangerous), but taking the dirt road you'll meet after crossing the bridge at the top of the waterfall.
