Outstanding Glass Museum and Teaching Center
The National Glass Centre (Fundación Centro Nacional del Vidrio) in La Granja de San Ildefonso is just 10 kilometers away from Segovia. It has extensive exhibits of contemporary and historical glass. It also has coverage of the history of glass making in Spain as well as production and teaching areas. It's a real surprise for those who appreciate functional and artistic glass. Short courses in glass art are conducted in English. Highly recommended.

Educational and Fun
I arrived right at 10 when they opened and enjoyed seeing all of the exhibits. There was one glass blower making vases and it was fascinating to watch her. I bought several gifts in the shop. The prices were excellent and the quality superb. They package everything very well for traveling. It was a real treat.

A must to see if you're at La Granja.
The same day that my friend and I visited the Royal Palace of La Granja went to the Glass Factory and museum. We saw the manufacture of glass and the old machines. The main objective of this factory was to built all the Glass stuff that the Palaces needed. You can see the evolution of the glass works through the centuries. At the museum you can see the collections of blow glass and stained glass.It have permanent exhibition as the Maumejean Brother's Workshop; fabulous work in stained glass windows. Also European bottles and containers from the 16th Century. They have a school, The Higher Education Institution of Glass. My experience at this place was very pleasant.
