Parque Nacional Picos de Europa, Castile and Leon, Spain

A M A Z I N G !!!
I first heard about this National park just few months ago, and after visiting it I am quite surprised it does not have much better PR , as I can summarize my experience in one word .. AMAZING ! The Park offers breathtaking views of mountains , valleys , lakes and you pass through various landscapes . If you are driving , make sure you take the circle road from Cangas De Onis towards the 3 mountain passes . You can do it during one long day or split ot to two . We used this very useful link for driving instructions : (http://www.asturiaspicosdeeuropa.com/v_portal/apartados/pl_basica.asp?te=2880 ) . Make sure you stop for a coffee or even better a small picnic at the first pass “Panderruedas” … there are picnic tabels and a beautiful view around . The third pass “Pass of San Glorio (1598m)” , take the side road at the left , leading towards a high view point (note the camera sign) where you can have a short walk to the top of the hill and feel for a monet at the "top of the world" . Landscape just keeps changing when you drive through the mountains , valleys , gorges and lakes. Just before you arrive back at Cangas, take the road to Covadonga and the lakes of Enol and Ercina . The way is simply beautiful (we did it late afternoon) . The second lake is a real pearl , and the overall view there with all the cows around is simply breathtaking .

Beautiful
We had a great outing to the The Picos de Europa National Park, located in the Cantabrian Mountains, in parts of this park , you’ll find glacial lakes such as Enol and Ercina. This place is breath-taking and so beautiful. The lakes are at a higher elevation. It is great for a family day tour. Cows were roaming freely. A well maintained park. SEE photos
