Extensive, beautiful & free
Very few people were strolling about the many wide, shaded avenues, despite there being no cost for entry. Hundreds of fountains, watered by kilometers of thick, underground piping. These extensive woods and walks are maintained by an army of gardeners (obviously capable), and ample funds.

Most beautiful gardens and grounds next to Royal Palace
These gardens are only 5km east of Segovia and are truly a gem. Many Trip Advisor contributors are urging that they not be missed. We took that advice and are exhilarated as a result. The gardens and grounds are incredibly well maintained. They contain a combination of formal and informal areas set on a vast amount of land. Water features abound as do many nooks and crannies to sit and enjoy the beauty. Please do try and include this in your trip if in Segovia.

Spectacular gardens, magnificent fountains
Entry to the gardens is free. They are spectacular and very extensive. In summer it can be hot and carrying some water with you is a good idea if you are exploring them properly, particularly if you try the maze: they recommend an hour and a half to get in and out of the maze but, if you get disorientated, even that may not be enough unless you take the "cheat gates" to allow people to escape quickly. The fountains are normally dry but, on certain days, advertised in the web page, they are put in action in the late afternoon. For a small fee you can join the spectactors for this amazing spectacle.
