Not to be missed whilst in Segovia

Fortress of the Kings of Castile and Royal School of Artillery Its picture has been around the world: a unique fairy tale-like palace that brings together architectural tastes of different monarchs. It tells -to all those who come to know it- ancient palatial stories. Austere, as they were the Castilian kings, raised on the rock at the confluence of the valleys of the rivers Eresma and Clamores, the Alcazar seems to watch over the city. Its beautiful Tower keep, often compared to the bow of a boat sailing between the two rivers, is of a stunning beauty. Tourists are amazed to realize that the fortress is a living part of this Castilian city, chosen as a place of residence for many of the monarchs of the Trastamara dynasty.

One of Spain's most under appreciated attractions!!
Just wow! To be honest, my spouse booked our day trip to Segovia and Avila. I didn't really know much about either. When we got to the Alcazar, I could not believe the history. So, this is where Isabela the Catholic became queen and regardless of what we now think of him, this is where Christopher Columbus made his case to Ferdinand and Isabella to finance his first voyage. (They denied him...) It is also from here that many of the worst edicts of the Spanish Inquisition came. But, history is history and we cannot change it by ignoring the less comfortable parts. The castle retains so much of its interiors though I was annoyed that the tower was an extra ticket. (Geesh, just charge more and let us see both without making us feel like we are being nickel and dimed.) Don't forget too that next door is the old royal artillery academy in which scientists discovered that sea water and fresh water had the same (H2O) make-up....Amazing place!

Best structure design and preserved items inside.
My son 14 and I liked this Alcazar (Palace for Arabic), best in Spain I foundit to be. The admissions fee 13 euros per adult and children supposedly free. Beautiful structure design from outside, and inside it contains items and documentary which both of us really enjoyed. You can find parking nearby on street side, and while here, you can visit all attractions within walking distance, about 500 metres walk through city centre to reach the aqueduct. Time and money well spent here. C U AROUND
