I love this museum!

The Icelandic Punk museum is situated in one of Reykjavik most prolific spots. At Bankastraeti Zero, the old public toilets in the bottom of the main street. Seeing is believing and we will see you here!

Very Punk Location, but so Small it's hard to enjoy when crowded
I wish I could give this place a 3.5 but I'm rounding up because I think the museum deserves that. It's a bit pricey, and it used to be a public bathroom (which I LOVE) so it's small, there are toilets, and the installations are small and crowded. It's a super great set up, the presentation is excellent, a decoupage of newsprint and images slapped across the walls and stalls. It's really a one of a kind place and I really dug it! If I could go in alone, I'd pay admission all over again. Unfortunately, it was relatively crowded (for being small, it doesn't take many people) and as a result it was hard to move around, and I felt rushed through and didn't get to absorb as much as I would have liked. Still worth the visit for sure!!!

    A little punk gem!
Occupying a former underground public restroom, this museum is small, loud, well curated, and a definite must for anyone interested in the eclectic, the Icelandic punk scene, or Bjork. We paid a gentleman with a Mohawk, tats and piercings who has definitely seen some stuff. The museum is laid out chronologically, combining history and wit as you wander from stall to stall reading about the rise of punk in the world and in Iceland. Headphones hanging from the ceiling fill your head with music, and you can don punk-theme jackets or stand with electric guitars for the ultimate family Christmas card photo.
