4.5 (247 reviews) Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM Spent Ranking #6 in Cape Ann Parks

One of the best visitor centers around

This seaside park overlooking Gloucester harbor marks the spot where the area was first settled in the early 1600s. Here, you can stroll along the rocky shore and swim in the calm and clear waters of Half Moon Beach, or explore Cressy's Beach which is located at the lower end of the park. There is also a sand volleyball court and plenty of picnic and cooking areas, and also a dog park. Located about a mile from downtown Gloucester, Stage Fort Park and Beach can be easily reached through a leisurely walk along the charming waterfront. – Tripadvisor

    extensive park
very cool - paths thru woods out to rock outcroppings with great views, even benches to sit, or right on the smooth rocks. paths down to water. neat secluded beach with nice sand. lots of picnic tables and open lawns. kids park had great climbing and things to do. tons of parking. a very cool dog park with play features. very clean!! dairy bar type takeout restaurant. lots of room to spread out. rocky beach to look for treasures.

Good place to take a lunch and eat by the water
Due to Covid we had to explore and be more creative. WE have gone to Stage Fort Park 3 this summer. It is a nice area that overlooks the beach and water. We usually go to the Causeway Restaurant and purchase our meals and then a quick trip to Stage Fort to watch the boats as we eat seafood. There is a nice play ground there too. Surprisingly, I had not been there before and did not realize that in 1623 Miles Standish was in a conflict with the people of Gloucester. Who knew it was that old? Great place to spend an afternoon with a picnic. I suggest you take a table cloth to put on the picnic table. Bring food and let the water sounds relax you.
